Transportation Updates for the 2026-2027 School Year

Dear Mayfield Families,

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year!

The mission of the Mayfield City School’s Transportation Department is to ensure a safe and dependable bus ride to and from school for all eligible students. 

Mayfield City Schools has been proud to offer door-to-door bus service, and yet, we are impacted by the national and local bus driver shortage. In Mayfield, our transportation workforce currently is reduced by 20 drivers, despite efforts to recruit and hire. In response, our processes to prioritize timely arrival for instruction has been modified for the 2026-2027 school year. 

Transportation Changes for All Students

  • To ensure all students arrive at school on time and to improve the efficiency of our transportation system, Mayfield busing will transition to cluster/corner bus stops beginning this school year. This change will help reduce overall ride times, improve route efficiency, and ensure students are in their schools and ready for the start of their instructional day.

  • All Kindergarten students will continue to be picked up and dropped off at their homes.

  • Bus stops will be located within a maximum of 0.20 miles (approximately one-fifth of a mile) of each student’s home.

  • Bus stop locations for Gr. 1-5 students may be adjusted during the winter months when weather conditions warrant. Communication updates will be shared at that time.

  • If your child has a medical condition or another circumstance that requires individualized transportation consideration, please contact the Transportation Department directly so we can work with you on an accommodation.

High School Transportation

Morning high school bus routes will begin at approximately 6:30 a.m., with students arriving at the high school between 7:00 and 7:10 a.m.

All high school students wishing to utilize district transportation during the 2026-2027 school year must complete the 2026-2027 HIGH SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION REQUEST FORM by August 14, 2026.

Elementary School Transportation

  • Elementary morning bus routes will begin between 6:50-7:10 a.m., depending on the route. Elementary student bus riders will arrive at their respective schools by approximately 7:30 a.m. with supervision provided.

  • Students who are dropped off or walking will have building access beginning at 7:45 a.m.

  • School begins at 7:50 a.m. / The tardy bell rings at 8 a.m.

Middle School Transportation

  • Middle school routes will begin immediately following the completion of elementary routes, at approximately 7:30 a.m. Students will arrive at the middle school by 8:00 a.m.

  • Students who are dropped off or walking will have building access beginning at 7:45 a.m.

  • School begins at 7:50 a.m. / The tardy bell rings at 8:05 a.m.

Edulog Parent Portal: Bus routes will be posted on August 14, 2026

If you have not already done so, we encourage you to download the Edulog Parent Portal.

The Edulog Parent Portal provides your student's planned pick-up and drop-off information, including bus number, stop location, and scheduled times. During the school year, the app also allows you to:

  • View your child's bus in real time using GPS.

  • Receive notifications when the bus is approaching your stop.

  • Receive transportation updates and important communications throughout the school year.

  • Drivers also will be available to answer transportation questions at each school’s open house.

We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible, communicating clearly as routes are finalized, and supporting families with specific concerns. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this transition together.
